Why Train with Fortitude

The reason we differ from the ‘normal’ stereotypical gyms or training centres, is that we run each and every session for you.  Our training centres are not an ‘open gym’ so you know that every session that we take is structured, planned and implemented by extremely experienced coaches that will cater for your needs and give you quality training.

Our classes are capped at 15 people and run by 2 instructors, giving you almost one to one training, which is not only safe, but means that you are being constantly coached and encouraged through your workouts.  This will make a massive difference to your training output and ultimately, your fitness.

We do not allow any new users to join into the classes until we have functionally screened our new members for an hour.  This firstly ensures it is safe for you to perform complex exercises and movements, but secondly, to ensure you are confident to join in, and we are confident that you have no potential injuries.

We have a fantastic array of members, from 50 plus year old females, to young male athletes.  All our members train together in a friendly atmosphere, and train together because we scale each exercise so that it caters for all abilities.

These packages allow members to join any of the classes that our Training Centre offers. This is a bespoke package that fits around your current commitments and is tailored to best meet your goals.

Concessions apply to under 21’s, students, military or ex- serving personnel offering unlimited classes for just £30 pcm.

We advise all our members were possible to arrive 10-15 minutes before the session begins in order to begin warming up and mobilising.

Any bags, personal items are to be stored in the lockers provided, not on the gym floor.

Please ensure to bring your own water bottle and turn up dressed appropriately to participate.

Sports Massage

Sports Massage

Soft tissue massage is implemented in training programs throughout the professional sporting world as both a preventative measure and as a performance enhancement tool.

Intense and increased training loads can cause muscle tightness, which may impair performance. Sports massage has been shown to reduce these effects when applied on a regular basis and is available both pre and post training.

It can be used to identify problematic areas, which may lead to potential injury, and can help reduce the tension from everyday life as well as treat the aches from physical activity.

Fortitude Functional Training offers a whole new approach to other gym & bootcamp classes out there. Our coaches are extremely qualified and experienced ex-military physical training instructors, and will take your workouts to a whole new level.

Our sessions are designed to maximise results for all abilities. Battle ropes, Core Functional Trainers and Rigs are just some of the quality pieces of functional equipment used at our sessions. Combined with expert guidance and a friendly and non- intimidating environment, you can be sure that you will have all the tools you need to transform your body and achieve your goals.

Fortitude Functional HIIT

Fortitude Fitness has designed the only HIIT instructors course and delivers it to PT’s around the world. When it comes to HIIT training our instructors do it best. Take part in some of the best and toughest high intensity sessions. These classes cater for all fitness abilities and are the best way to increase your fitness, promote lean muscle (tone) and lose weight. HIIT training increases your metabolic rate for up to 24hrs after a session meaning your body is burning FAT up to when you are ready to come back and do it all over again!

Fortitude Strength Training

These sessions are for those who are serious about fitness and want to improve their technical ability, increase strength and performance. These are pre booked sessions with a maximum of 6 clients to one instructor. There’s no hiding! Take advantage of our periodised training programme to ensure your smashing your PB’s which are recorded every 6, 8 and 12 weeks to personalise your goals.

Classes cover the following:-

Fundamentals of functional training. Functional movement screening, covering variants of squats and deadlifts, Olympic lifting, power lifting and gymnastic movements.

Rehab & Developmental Training

It doesn’t matter how fit you are or how technically sound you are, the chances are at some stage we all get a niggle or get injured. This can have a huge impact on your training both mentally and physically. We recognise this, and Fortitude have dedicated this class to clients who have been injured or are returning from an injury. The class is broken into upper and lower limb circuits. You will work on core stability, posture, balance and proprioception. These classes will help you through the rehabilitation process, giving you your confidence back, your injuries fixed, and you returning to full time training.

Meet Our Coaches

Nick Richards

Nick Richards has over 15 years of experience within the PT Industry and has served as a PT Instructor at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst training officer cadets, the Royal School Of Artillery in charge of training recruits and the Gurkhas and Royal Engineers as the senior PT Instructor training soldiers for deployment to various theatres including Afghanistan. He is highly qualified and experienced in training and developing PT Instructors and holds numerous qualifications in PT, coaching and instructing. Nick is an advanced Level 3 Personal Trainer and Gym Manager and has assessing and teaching qualifications. Nick is a business partner and co-owner of the company and heads up all CPD Course design and implementation of training.

Drew Blofeld

Drew Blofeld spent 8 years serving in the Army as a Royal Engineer. With over 6 year’s experience as an Army Physical training instructor, his career has been dedicated to providing high quality training for soldiers and new recruits preparing them for the physical and mental challenges they will face.

During this time he obtained a wide variety of qualifications, from personal training, strength and conditioning, and sports massage.
Drew has a passion for instructing and focused his enthusiam for fitness on the commercial market, where he has managed boot camps, built up a network of personal training clients and delivered fitness courses, as well providing fitness training for local schools, training sports teams and delivering corporate team building packages.
Drew is passionate and enthusiastic about all areas of fitness and has a passion for coaching and instructing, which is always clear to see when ever he delivers to students. Drew is a business partner and co – owner of Fortitude Fitness and heads up the training delivery aspect of CPD Courses alongside managing Fortitude training centre and all of its activities and classes.

Fortitude Fitness is an innovative fitness company ran by Nick and Drew, who between them, have over 25 years experience in the fitness industry as Royal Army Physical Training Corps Instructors within the British Army.

Between them they have gained vast experience in the development and rehabilitation of injured soldiers as well as the design and implementation of robust training programmes for soldiers deploying all over the world on operations.

Nick and Drew have been running gymnasiums, training and developing countless PT Instructors for many years and have now taken their knowledge and skill set to the civilian fitness industry.

Fortitude Fitness started as an Education provider, delivering unique CPD Courses and Workshops across the UK, Europe and Middle East. 2 years on, we now have our own brand of fitness being delivered in our Fortitude Training Centres, and also our Equipment company, Fortitude Equipment.

Fortitude Equipment specialises in whole gym and CrossFit Box installs and we do everything from flooring, to bespoke RIGs. Fortitude have also developed our own unique fitness equipment that is now being sold worldwide by major equipment retailers, and used throughout the UK in commercial gyms and CrossFit Boxes.
